Amid the prevailing Telangana turmoil that has hit coal movement from Singareni Coalfields in Andhra Pradesh, the Ministry of coal has asked Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) to step up coal despatch to the starving power stations in the country. “We have been asked to send at least 50 rakes per day from Talcher and Ib valley fields now to meet the urgent requirement of power sector in the country as there is no coal movement from the Singareni Coalfields”, said chairman cum managing director of MCL A N Sahay.
