German Wholesale giant METRO Cash & Carry on Wednesday announced the launch of a store in Zirakpur near Chandigarh.

This is the company’s third wholesale store in Punjab. It plans to open another store in Amritsar by next month, taking the number of stores in Punjab to four, the highest in any state. Rajeev Bakshi, METRO’s managing director, India operations, said higher purchasing power in the state was the main reason why the company was opening more stores here.
