Monocept, a Hyderabad-based technology company focused on developing large-scale enterprise cloud, mobile and web solutions, on Saturday said that it has acquired online food-ordering startup GetMeFood (GMF), also from Hyderabad, for an undisclosed amount. GMF, founded by BITS-Pilani alumnus Mithun Kalaga and Aravind Thodupunoori of IRMA (Anand) in 2012, claims to be Hyderabad’s first food-ordering website. GMF has hyperlocal delivery system by which the food is being delivered from over 250 restaurants across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad by more than 50 delivery boys. Monocept, founded by former Microsoft employees Manav Gaur, Gangadhar Heralgi and Ravi Chitturi, had in late 2014 launched  DinerKonnect, a customer engagement organiser tool for the hospitality industry.

DinerKonnect had become a preferred cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution for many restaurants in Hyderabad, according to Manav Gaur, chief executive officer, Monocept. “The success of DinerKonnect pushed us to explore new ways to improve our offering and online food-ordering seemed like a logical extension to our product. We looked out for established food-ordering websites that we could acquire to scale upusing our expertise in technology. GetMeFood fitted the bill perfectly," he said.

Post the acquisition, Kalaga and Thodupunoori will continue to work with the company.

GetMeFood will now help the restaurants in growing their business in both dine-in and online ordering space. In the near future, the company has plans to activate multi-channel order management system through its mobile applications for customers, restaurants and its delivery network.

The company plans to partner with more than 1,500 restaurants in the next two months. Currently, it is active in 40 neighborhoods in Hyderabad and eight neighborhoods in Secunderabad.

"We are also looking to expand our base to other cities," Thodupunoori said.
