Monster Employment Index for Feb up 16% y-o-y

Among industry sectors, 21 of 27 registered expansion in online recruitment activity between Feb 2012 and Feb 2013

Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/ Middle- East/ South East Asia) says the Monster Employment Index India exhibits positive annual growth owing to cautious ‘optimism’. This is reflective of the confidence that employers are showing in the Indian economy.

Among industry sectors, 21 of 27 registered expansion in online recruitment activity between February 2012 and February 2013. Shipping Marine sector (up 59%) followed by Media & Entertainment  sector (up 41%) exhibited the highest annual growth among sectors. Printing/Packaging sector (up 39%), showed positive growth in online recruitment activity between February 2012 and February 2013. Production and Manufacturing (down 10%) showed steepest annual decline.

Online demand improved in 10 of 13 occupational groups monitored by the Monster Employment Index between February 2012 and February 2013. Arts/Creative (up 43%) followed by customer service (up 32%) charted the most substantial annual gains amongst the occupational groups. Senior management (down 51%) exhibited the steepest annual decline.

Online recruitment activity was up in the year for 10 of 13 locations monitored by the index.

Chandigarh (up 39%) followed by Ahmedabad (up 37%) led all cities in annual growth. Among major metro-areas, Kolkata (up 36%) and Chennai (up 31%) registered the highest annual growth.

The Monster Employment Index India is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career Web sites and online job listings across India. The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.
