New Airtel schemes for UP subscribers

Airtel, the leading mobile service provider, announced a special offer "Stay Active and Win" for its customers in Uttaranchal and western Uttar Pradesh.

Under the scheme, three lucky customers could win free tickets to Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai, a company release said. Other attractive prizes include free talk time of up to Rs 1,000 and walkman.

Airtel customers who remained active during June 12 to July 31, 2004 would be eligible for the offer, which was first of its initiative by the company in the region, it said. The offer also includes those pre-paid customers who will recharge before June 12 and will not enter into grace period till July 31.

"Airtel has always promised and delivered superior network quality, 24-hour customer care service, value for money offers and promotions along with top of the line innovative products and services," said Arvind Mehra, Airtel chief operating officer, UP (west) and Uttaranchal.

The company has set up 324 cell sites in the region, which is the highest number of base stations set up by any service provider in the region.

Farm centres: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has sanctioned eight Krishi Vigyan Kendras in Uttaranchal to transfer appropriate technologies to farmers.
