NICE commissions Rs 67 cr 'engg cluster' project

The ‘Nashik Engineering Cluster’ project, set up by Nashik Industrial Co-operative Estate (NICE), has been commissioned here and an investment in the project is around Rs 67 crore.
The engineering cluster project, which is spread over 4 acre plot in Ambad area of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), was dedicated to Nashik industries at a grand function held here recently in the principal presence of Atul Kirloskar, Chairman, Kirloskar Engines India Ltd and Vikram Sarda, Chairman, Nashik Engineering Cluster (NEC).
NICE has formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which has been named as ‘Nashik Engineering Cluster’. This engineering cluster project will provide various advanced facilities to industries, including the CAD/CAM/CAE training centre, Rapid Prototyping, CNC Machining Centre, Specialised Heat Treatment, Inspection/Testing facility, Calibration Centre and common facilities.
“Considering the strong base of engineering & electrical industries here and with an aim to make local SMEs globally competitive, NICE had taken an initiative to form ‘engineering cluster’ at Nashik. An investment in the project is Rs 67 crore. Of which, Government of India has contributed Rs 50 crore, while NICE and Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) have contributed Rs 9.26 crore and Rs 8 crore, respectively,” said Vikram Sarda, Chairman, NEC.
“Around Rs 40 crores have been spent on technology and rest of the Rs 27 crores on infrastructure & others,” Sarda added.
