Nilkamal enters mattress segment, plans facility at Hosur

Nilkamal Limited, a Rs 1,500-crore company in moulded furniture and material handling business, has announced its foray into  mattresses segment and plans to set up a mattress manufacturing facility at Hosur.

"We will soon start a manufacturing facility at Hosur in Tamil Nadu and within the next one year, the facility shall be extended to other three zones where Nilkamal has its existing manufacturing facility for chairs," said Manish Parekh, director of the company.

The mattresses range will be first marketed in the west and south markets followed by the north and east towards the second half of the year.

Nilkamal group has three core businesses of material handling solutions such as crates, pallets, containers and bins and other equipment; moulded furniture such as chairs, tables, drawer systems, and cabinets; and the retail store of lifestyle furniture and home décor.

"Our core strength in this business will be our strong distribution network through our existing 18,000 dealers across the country. Apart from the dealers, we will also retail the mattresses through our @home mega home stores. We have set up separate teams for the mattress division, separately managed across 12 offices in the west and south so as to provide the necessary logistics," Parekh said.

These mattresses, which carry a guarantee of up to 10 years, are available in sizes of three, four, five and six inches, and priced in the range of Rs 3,000 to Rs 24,000.
