NTPC to move SC over HC consortium bid ruling

NTPC will soon approach the Supreme Court against a Delhi High Court ruling which allowed the Ansaldo-Gammon consortium to make a price bid for the company’s Rs 19,000-crore, 800-Mw bulk supercritical tender. “We had referred this matter to the Solicitor General. We have received his comment and will soon approach the Supreme Court,” Chairman and Managing Director, Arup Roy Choudhury, said. A consortium of Ansaldo and Gammon had taken NTPC to court after it was disqualified from the Stage–I bids, on the grounds that parts in the equipment were outsourced.

The high court said NTPC will allow the Ansaldo-Gammon consortium to not only proceed to the next stage (in accordance with the terms of the bid documents), but also allow it to participate in the technical discussions of the tendering process.
