Panasonic India, a part of Japanese electronic products major Panasonic Corporation, will offer technologies oriented to the people at the bottom-of-the-pyramid. The company will finalise its India-specific plan to address this segment in rural and semi rural areas, in three months, said Daizo Ito, president.
Speaking to reporters in the sidelines of launch of a solar renewable energy module to support Everonn India Foundation's training centre at Sipcot Industrial estate, near here, he said, “We are looking at India-specific products like solar lantern to address the needs of the bottom of the pyramid. We will be working with governments, institutions and nongovernmental organisations to reach out the rural areas.”
It is already in talks with various national and international institutions in this regard. “We are almost 10 years behind our Korean counterparts in India and this is one of our strategies to grab the market,” said another senior official from the company.
As part of this, it would enter into macro and micro solar applications. The company has presence in almost all the categories of the solar energy segment — from solar panels to storage and management products — to provide macro level grid applications.
