Chandigarh and the rest of Punjab and Haryana have emerged as potential markets for the online fashion and lifestyle product retailer, Myntra.com. According to a recent study by Myntra, Chandigarh is among the top-12 cities in India in terms of number of transactions on its site.

Shoppers across Punjab and Haryana are taking to online shopping. The states are among the top-10 on Myntra.com. Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Bhatinda and Patiala in Punjab and Gurgaon, Panchkula, Hisar and Ambala in Haryana contribute to the bulk of orders on Myntra.com. The study showed over 1,200-1,300 products are shipped to Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana daily.

"Shoppers average purchase value in this region is higher than the national average. Growing purchasing power, with access to affordable global brands, has made online shopping a preferred choice among the fashion-conscious youth in this region. Chandigarh and Punjab overall have emerged as strong markets for premium casual retail. A large number of loyal and repeat customers come from here," said Co-founder Ashutosh Lawania.

"At Myntra, we are continuously striving to build consumer confidence in online shopping by providing relevant fashion solutions and making shopping easier. One example is the recent exchange policy in Chandigarh, Mohali and Gurgaon".

Popular products are casual footwear and T-shirts for men and ethnic wear and cosmetics for women. Some of the most sought after youth brands like Puma, Nike, Fila, Adidas, United Colors of Benetton, Catwalk, Lakme and Myntra.com's in-house brands, Roadster and DressBerry, are becoming popular in Chandigarh and rest of Haryana and Punjab.

The study says 70 per cent of shoppers on Myntra.com are male. The average age of the shopper is 25, similar to the national average.

With 30 per cent market share, Myntra.com has emerged as a leading e-commerce platform. The company's fashion property 'Star N Style' has associated with Bollywood celebrities Kalki Koechlin, Chitrangada Singh and, most recent, Genelia Deshmukh.

According to research by Millward Brown, Myntra.com is among leading e-commerce platforms in India for fashion and lifestyle products and is the most-recalled e-commerce brand in the space. It has partnered 500 leading fashion and lifestyle brands in the country to offer a wide range in fashion and lifestyle wear.

The partners include Nike, Adidas, Puma, Lee, Levi's, Arrow, Biba, Fabindia, Timberland, CAT and US Polo.
