Focus on the Indian and Europe markets and on sectors such as defence and engineering services has resulted in Rolta India post a 4 per cent jump in net profit for the fourth quarter ended June 2008.

The company reported a net profit of Rs 50.83 crore (Rs 48.85 crore) in the quarter. Revenues at Rs 307.68 crore (Rs 207.47 crore) were up 48.3 per cent. Sequentially, the net profit dipped by 23 per cent from Rs 65.72 crore because of a provisioning of Rs 30.18 crore due to forex losses on foreign currency convertible bonds.

Bajaj Electricals profit up 29%

Cost control and an improved product mix helped Bajaj Electricals, the Shekhar Bajaj-promoted company, to register a net profit increase of 28.77 per cent at Rs 10.01 crore for the quarter ended June 2008 compared with Rs 7.78 crore in the same period last year. Total income rose by about 26 per cent to Rs 318.09 crore.

Piramal Healthcare Q1 net rises 57%

Piramal Healthcare has posted a 57 per cent increase in net profit for the quarter ended June 2008. The profits rose on the back of a better performance in the domestic market with focus on speciality products and increase in revenues from its contract manufacturing business.

The company posted a net profit of Rs 68.09 crore for the period, in comparison to Rs 43.41 crore in the year-ago. Total income grew by 16.1 per cent to Rs 708.43 crore compared with Rs 610 crore in the previous year period.
