A RSP release said that the furnace department which operated at 114 per cent capacity during 2007-08, produced 2,229 million tonnes of hot metal in the same fiscal.
In 2007-08, the blast furnace unit registerd the best ever figures in almost all the months.
The single day production crossed 7,000 tonnes mark on several occasions and the highest single day productivity of 7,282 tonnes was achieved on November 11, 2007.
The average coke rate touched an all time low of 566 kg per tonne of hot metal during the said year and in January 2008, this was reduced to the level of 537kg per tonne.
The best average hot blast temperature of 963 degrees centigrade, best life of 1,362 cycles in 140 to ladles and several other accomplishments by the blast furnace unit of RSP in the last fiscal have proved the RSP's committment to explore new avenues in different areas of activity, the release said.
