Reliance Infocomm would soon make its presence felt at Sabarimala, where the hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa is situated.

"Reliance Infocomm was gearing up to launch the service at Sabarimala and necessary approvals had been taken," Somasekhar Ganapathy, RIM business head for Tamil Nadu and Kerala circle, said.

Asked if the rollout would be during the current pilgrimage season, he said it would be done soon.

Mahesh Thampi, RIM business head for Kerala, said efforts were on to use satellite technology as the hilly terrain of Sabarimala was difficult.

Efforts are also on to connect some other pilgrimage centres of the state, he said. Lakhs of pilgrims visit the shrine from all over the country and abroad every year.
