Sanjeev Aga takes over as Idea CEO

The Aditya Birla Group today announced the reshuffle of the key executives in its two companies"" Aditya Birla Nuvo and Idea Cellular. Sanjeev Aga (pictured) has been shifted from the position of managing director, Aditya Birla Nuvo, to the post of Idea Cellular's CEO, a position that had been lying vacant for some time.
 
Bharat Singh will replace Aga in Aditya Birla Nuvo. The appointments are effective November 1 this year.
 
Aga has been the managing director of Aditya Birla Nuvo ever since the company was formed last year through a three-way merger of Indian Rayon, Indo Gulf Fertilisers and Birla Global Finance. He is a director on the board of the Aditya Birla Management Corporation, the apex body of the group.
 
Aga has been associated with the group's telecom business since 1998.
 
He took over as CEO of the Aditya group's telecom joint venture, Birla AT&T. He led the company through a period of fast-paced changes, expansion, and merger with Tata Cellular., to be CEO of what became Idea Cellular.
 
He was also the chairman of the Cellular Operators Association of India for 2001-02. In addition to its responsibilities in Aditya Birla Nuvo, Singh will continue to look after the corporate strategy function of the group for the time being. Singh has been with the group since1996.
 
He has over three decades of work experience in several operational and corporate management functions in companies such as the ITC , Sandoz, RPG Group and McDonalds.
