Eicher Motors Ltd (EML) today announced Siddhartha Lal (pictured) as it's new managing director designate. He will assume this responsibility and also become group CEO with effect from May 1, 2006. | |
| S Sandilya, who is the group chairman and CEO at present, will continue as chairman of EML in a non-executive capacity from May 1, 2006. In his new role, he will provide guidance and mentoring to the management team, a company release said. |

| Siddhartha graduated in economics from St Stephens College, Delhi University in 1994. After this he worked with MAN Nutzfahrzeugen - a German commercial vehicle manufacturer and with group company Royal Enfield, Chennai. |

| He did post-graduate diploma in mechanical engineering from Cranfield University, UK, during 1996-98. |

| He has also done masters of science degree in automotive engineering from the University of Leeds, UK. Siddhartha re-joined the Eicher group in 1999 and worked in the marketing division of Eicher Tractors for over a year. |

| He then created the GIS & Digital Maps division of Eicher Goodearth Ltd. |

| Siddhartha took over as the Chief Executive of Royal Enfield in March 2001. He was appointed as Eicher Group COO in January 2004. |
