Sony today said it had slashed price of its gaming device PlayStation 3 by 15% to Rs 16,990 in India, in line with its global announcement.
"Following the global announcement on the PS3 price drop, Indian consumers can now own a 160 GB PS3 for a reduced price of Rs 16,990. This is a 15% drop from its original Rs 19,990," Sony PlayStation said in a statement.
The PS3 320 GB with the PS Move Starter pack bundle will now be priced at Rs 19,990, it added.
"India is an integral part of PlayStation business growth and we are happy to synchronise the price drop in India with the global price drop. It also provides an additional opportunity to really become an attractive proposition during the festive season," Sony PlayStation Country Manager Atindriya Bose said.
The PS3 was launched in 2006.
