SQL Star International Limited, a Hyderabad-based information technology company, would raise up to $20 million for inorganic growth through strategic acquisitions and for investing in the current lines of businesses.

A decision to this effect was taken by the company's board at its meeting here on Wednesday.

"We have already identified a couple of US-based companies for acquiring. Strategically, they fit very well with our existing lines of businesses and the negotiations are in the advanced stages", N R Ganti, SQL's chairman and managing director, stated in a press release.

According to Ganti, the target companies have significant presence in consulting business in the US, with Fortune 100 corporates as their clients.

The acquisition will help SQL to further consolidate its global position in site consulting business. The company proposes to enhance its knowledge services offerings by opening new centres in the near future.
