The proposed plant with production capacity of 2,200 tonnes per day (TPD) of ammonia and 7,700 TPD of granulated urea besides two trains with capacity of 3,850 TPD -- would be the largest fertiliser plant in Nigeria, Africa.
"We are happy to partner with the Dangote Group which is one of the most diversified groups in Africa and known for its business excellence and quality products. ...We will ensure that we meet the Group's expectations in delivery excellence and on time project completion," Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd (TCEL) Managing Director J P Haran said in a statement.
TCEL will assist the Dangote Group with review engineering, construction management, quality management, health and safety management and the entire gamut of project management services, the company said.
The appointment of TCEL came after the Pan-African conglomerate signed the contract for the construction of the largest fertiliser plant in Africa with Saipem, it added.
"We trust Tata with this project as we believe they have capabilities to handle such a large scale project with multiple dimensions. Our ultimate goal is to build a world- class plant that meets the highest global standards," Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote said.
TCEL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Ltd, offers engineering services from concept to commissioning in key industry segments such as power, nuclear energy, chemicals, infrastructure, industrial, mining and minerals, steel, metals and construction management.
