Tata Steel, the country's largest steel producer, today said its consolidated net profit declined 41.93 per cent to Rs 472.65 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2009, over the corresponding period a year ago.
The group had a consolidated net profit of Rs 813.89 crore in the same period last fiscal, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Consolidated total income of the group decreased to Rs 26,611.93 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 33,234.41 crore in the same period last fiscal.
Shares of the company settled at Rs 549.85, up 2.23 per cent from previous close on the BSE.
