Google chief executive Sundar Pichai on Thursday said future of computing would see more machine learning and artificial intelligence used in products such as Google's self-driving car and pointed that computer scientists globally have just scratched the surface.

"The future is machine learning and and extension of artificial learning that build systems. The one used in Google self driving cars. These cars recognize other vehicles have Artificial intelligence and deep neural networks. They are incredibly powerful," said Pichai at an interaction with students of Shriram College of Commerce in Delhi. " We are barely scratching the surface. You can do in healthcare.. There is a lot left to do".

The Indian-born Sundar, on his first trip to his homeland since taking over as the chief executive, called for a shift in focus in India's education system from academic rigour to develop creativity and hands on projects for students.

"Look at what is needed to solve the next generation of problems. It requires creativity. Encourage creativity in education. Indian education system values rigorous academic knowledge than encourage creativity. The best schools in the US are experiential and hands on. Doing things than learning (from books)," said Pichai, who got a rockstar reception at the interaction with Harsha Bhogle.

""Teach project based experimental training. Teach students to take risk and making sure that the system doesn't penalise if you take risks or be different," he said.
