Delhi-based Shereen Bhan, executive editor, will take over as the channel’s managing editor from September 1.
A press statement issued by Network18 said Mukherjee, 40, had been facing issues of “professional exhaustion and wanted to devote more time to other pursuits of personal interest”.
Shares of Network18 and TV18 Broadcast fell two per cent each on a day when the BSE Sensitive Index ended almost flat. TV18 fell 2.9 per cent to close at Rs 23.45, while Network18 fell 2.31 per cent to close at Rs 33.90. Mukherjee will, however, continue his exclusive association with the group in a contributory and consulting role through a mix of events, shows and appearances. Mukherjee said of late, the responsibility of running the channel had become repetitive and he had a difficult time motivating himself to continue.
