VA Tech Wabag Q3 net at Rs 14 cr

VA Tech Wabag Ltd, a water treatment solutions provider based in Chennai, has posted a net profit of Rs 13.92 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2010. It had reported a net loss of Rs 12.63 crore in the same period of previous fiscal year. The total income of the company rose to Rs 316.34 crore during the third quarter of current fiscal, from Rs 272.73 crore during the corresponding period of last fiscal year, an increase of 16 per cent. The company has issued an IPO of 9,54,198 equity shares at Rs 5 each and issued another 26,53,383 equity shares at a premium of Rs 1,305 per equity share to raise funds. Out of the Rs 125 crore raised through the IPO, Rs 47.45 crore has been utilised for working capital requirements, implementation of global IT systems and other expenses, the company said in a statement.

Fed bank opens lounge in airport

Federal Bank has launched a business class lounge facility at the Kochi Inter-national Airport. The facility is meant for the bank’s priority banking customers travelling to international destinations, and is maintained by the Taj Hotels group in association with Singa-pore Airlines. The lounge has a capacity of 165.

Training on seafood diagnostics

A national training on molecular diagnostics and fingerprinting of salmonella and pathogenic vibrios associated with seafood and aquatic environments will be helf from today at the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT), here. The training is sponsored by National Agricultural Inno-vation Project of  Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The 14-day programme is designed to benefit the young scientists and teachers working in fields of microbiology and biotechnology in ICAR institutes / universities and other colleges in the country.
