Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to stop pushing for a series against India, which is in jeopardy due to the escalating tension between the two sides.
The all-rounder added that he doesn't understand the reason behind pushing for a series if India is not interested, the Dawn reports.
PCB chief Shaharyar Khan had earlier written a letter to the Indian cricket board secretary Anurag Thakur, seeking an update on the proposed bilateral series between the two sub-continental rivals scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in December.
In the wake of the Gurdaspur attack in July, Thakur had earlier ruled out the immediate resumption of stalled series against Pakistan, saying that one cannot expect a cricket series amidst rising terrorist activities.
According to the MoU signed between PCB and BCCI, both countries are scheduled to play six series in the 2015-2023 Future Tours Programme, but all were subject to clearance from New Delhi.
India have not played a full bilateral Test series with Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
