Former MSME minister Virbhadra Singh also a five-time Chief Minister figures in the list of 68 candidates for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh elections.
Singh who is an MP from the state, resigned as Union minister after a Himachal court framed corruption charges against him. While Singh has been fielded from Shimla Rural constituency, Congress legislative party leader Vidya Stokes has been fielded from Theog constituency.
Singh who is the tallest leader in Himachal managed to gain control over the Pradesh Congress committee in the state and got himself appointed as PCC chief, even after he had been sidelined by the high command in the wake of the corruption allegations. Now after being restored at the helm of affairs, the majority of the candidates for the 68-member Assembly bear his stamp.
Former state party chief Kaul Singh Thakur, will be contesting from Darang while AICC Secretary Asha Kumari will contest from Dalhousie. All India Mahila Congress chief Anita Verma will contest from Sujanpur.
The poll process for the 4 November Himachal assembly elections will start with the issue of notification on October 10, when candidates can start filing their nominations.
