According to information available, around 33 ex-trainees of the company, supported by Arappor Iyakkam, an initiative started by former members of Aam Aadmi Party in Tamil Nadu, approached the court.
"Around 33 individual former trainees filed petition at the Labour Court last week and they are yet to be numbered," said Jayaram Venkatesan, convenor, Arappor Iyakkam.
The company said it has not received any information on the subject.
A copy of the petition obtained by Business Standard from one of the ex-trainees alleges that while the appointment order of the company stated that he (petitioner) would be given training as "RN Trainee Basic" for a period of 12 months from the date of appointment, he was actually engaged in production like regular workmen after one month from the date of appointment.
The petitioner alleged that the company exploited him for a period of two years by putting him under the trainee category.
The petitioner was terminated without any notice or any enquiry being held, he alleged.
