IIM-Raipur joins hands with AIIMS for healthcare research

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur has inked a memorandum of understanding with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur for extending research and academic activities.

This is reported to be the first MoU of its kind signed by the IIM with the AIIMS. “The major purpose of the MoU is to establish a fruitful means to exchange knowledge, information and research, and to facilitate and enhance the interaction between two institutes,” IIM-Raipur Director B S Sahay said.

The agreement would facilitate extending research and academic activities between the two organizations in the fields of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Management, Health Economics and Finance, Human Resource Management in Healthcare, Marketing and Advertisement of Policies and Services, Health Program Management and Evaluation, Community Healthcare Planning, Information Technology in healthcare and Hospital Administration.

The IIM-Raipur is also mooting a proposal under the agreement to start an integrated course (short and long term) on Healthcare Management by utilising the expertise and resource of both the institutes.

“The MoU would help both the institutes in advancing knowledge for mutual benefits as well as for the benefits of the society,” AIIMS Director Dr N M Nagarkar said. IIM and AIIMS shall collaborate to conceptualize certificate/ diploma courses in Healthcare/ Hospital Management, develop their course content and modules, and award co-branded certificates in the area of healthcare and hospital management, he added.

Dr. Nagarkar stressed the needs of organising joint seminars, conferences, joint researches and workshops at regional and national levels to develop more effective methods in for strengthening the National Health care system. Both the institutes will also collaborate to develop and evaluate educational prototypes for the various categories of healthcare and family welfare planning personnel.

Sahay emphasized on the complimentary role of management science in cost effective delivery of healthcare services to masses.
