Jayalalithaa will be discharged in a few days, says hospital management

Hospital authorities refute rumours that she will be taken out of the country for treatment

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will be discharged from the hospital in a few days and will soon resume her normal official duties, according to hospital authorities. The authorities refuted the rumours that she will be taken abroad for treatment.

The hospital officials told reporters that the Chief Minister is responding well to the treatment and continues to get better.

"As part of the ongoing recuperation, the Honourable Chief Minister has been advised few more days of rest. The Chief Minister will be discharged from the hospital in a few days and will soon resume her normal official duties," said Subbiah Viswanathan, chief operating officer, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.

Meanwhile, there have been rumours and conjectures circulated falsely in the social media about her health condition, stating that she will be taken abroad for treatment, he said.

"These are totally false and baseless," he stated, adding that there is no question of takin the Chief Minister abroad for treatment, as there is no necessity at all for this.

Jayalalithaa was admitted in the Apollo Hospital, Chennai, in the late hours of September 22. She had fever and dehydration at the tiime of admission. Treatment was commenced immediately and her fever was brought under control on the next day, and she resumed regular diet. She has been under observation till then.

Necessary medications are bein administered as required and as per standard medical protocol, necessary investigations and tests are being done to prevent recurrence of fever, added the hospital official.
