In his first meeting with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after being re-elected as Gujarat's Chief Minister, Narendra Modi on Wednesday raised the issue of parity in gas prices.

As per an official communique from the CMO, Modi met PM at 7, Race Course Road, New Delhi and told the latter that Gujarat does not get the same gas prices as Delhi.

"We went to Court and won but it has been six months and the Centre has not been adhering to the guidelines. We gave a contempt petition as well. Gujarat should get gas on the same rate as Delhi and Mumbai. The Centre went to the Supreme Court as well to delay," Modi said to the PM.

"I had a very good meeting with the Prime Minister. PM congratulated me (for winning state assembly elections) and we discussed Gujarat's development. I expressed my unhappiness. The Prime Minister assured him that he will look into these issues and will extend all help possible," Modi told reporters in Delhi after the meeting as per the communique.

Among other things, Modi also raised the Sardar Sarovar Dam issue with PM. Modi said that he submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and discussed pending projects with him.

Modi is in New Delhi to deliver the Shri Ram Memorial Oration at Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). Modi has been invited as the speaker to deliver the oration after 80 per cent of youngsters expressed their preference to hear him over other speakers including Cabinet Ministers and captains of industry.
