A mustard oil manufacturing unit has been set up in Tihar jail here under an initiative to rehabilitate prisoners, an official said Tuesday.
"The project is based on the public-private partnership model. A leading petro products company, IFP Petro Products Pvt. Ltd., has taken the social initiative for rehabilitation of prisoners," Tihar jail spokesperson Sunil Gupta told IANS.
The unit was inaugurated Monday.
"IFP is providing the machinery, raw material, packaging material, technical supervision and marketing for the product that will be available in retail outlets and IFP plants soon," he said.
Tihar jail, south Asia's largest prison with over 12,000 inmates, manufactures more than 100 products.
