Odisha urges IOCL to contribute Rs 100 cr

The govt has asked IOCL to contribute Rs 100 cr voluntarily to help implement rebuilding work on a massive scale

The Odisha government that is carrying out restoration and rebuilding work in full swing in the aftermath of the Phailin cyclone, has turned to some top corporate houses for funding support.

The government has asked Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) to contribute Rs 100 crore voluntarily to help implement rebuilding work on a massive scale. "Apart from IOCL, the state chief secretary has written to other major corporates like NTPC Ltd, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) Paradeep Port Trust (PPT) and National Aluminium Company (Nalco) to make similar contributions,",said a senior government official.

Recently, the state government had requested the Centre to provide Rs 4,242.41 crore in the form of grant to rebuild homes and power infrastructure that were affected during Phailin cyclone and floods following the storm.
