Smart phone for the visually impaired, enable talk gloves invented with an intention to convert gestures into speech, pine tree needle gasifier to generate electricity, a sting ring which is self defence device for women and can use to steer clear of potential trouble-makers are the few interesting innovations that are showcased at the two-day Innovation Expo in Pune.

The event is held on December 10 and 11 at Agriculture College ground, range hills at Pune.

The expo is organised by Persistent System in association with Maharashtra Institute of Health Sciences (MUHS), and Deloitte.

It would not only highlight innovations in the fields of agriculture and engineering but would also facilitate potential investors identify ventures for investment.

It will bring together large number innovators, industrial houses, venture capitalist, pre-angel and angel investors, scientists to discuss innovations.

The expo is showcasing 150 plus innovations and simultaneously held sandbox sessions will provide an opportunity to the innovators to present their innovations to panel of investors, industry leaders and academicians.

Commenting on this, Anand Deshpande, MD and CEO, Persistent Systems, said, "The expo will provide platform to innovators to showcase their work. It would display the innovative work done in various sectors. India's aspirational youth is keen on embracing best of technology at an affordable price. These innovations solutions aimed at solving major problems faced by society using the best of technology at an affordable price. Apart from innovators, there would be companies and entrepreneurs taking part in the expo."

Ranjit Jain of Avani BioEnergy is showcasing a needle gasifier to generate electricity.

It effectively extracts the maximum calorific value from pine needles.

With this, the sub Himalayan region that solves major environmental hazard, provides renewable power ans significant income generator for under privileged populations.

It is a pine needle based generator which can be scale to produce 9 kw of power out of which 7.5 kw can be used for domestic purpose.

Also, Ajee Kamat of Gyatk has developed a hybrid fuel engine technology which can be applied to internal combustion engines into multi-fuel hybrids which can run on petrol, diesel, bio gas or hydrogen.
