The event will mark the celebration of 50 years of operations of ONGC Videsh, the overseas arm of explorer ONGC, Engineers India Ltd (EIL) and the Barauni Refinery of largest refiner Indian Oil Corp (IOC).
The event, 'Urja Sangam 2015: Shaping India's Energy Security' will witness participation from Cabinet ministers, policy makers, global chief executives (CEOs) of energy firms and academia. The participants will "deliberate the contemporary challenges and opportunities of shaping the energy security of India in a rapidly changing energy landscape," the government said in an official invitation.
The event will begin with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and release of OVL's history book, Coffee Table Book and a postage stamp of EIL in the morning. This will be followed by an address from Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief Patron of the event followed by the PM's address to the audience.
Global energy specialist Daniel Yergin will deliver a speech on "Global Interpendence and Energy Security" before the lunch break. In the afternoon, power minister Piyush Goyal, commerce minister Nirmala Sitharaman and petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan will hold a ministerial session on "Framing Energy Security-Sustainability and Responsible Energy Investments". The session will involve a broad discussion on energy security including diversification, role of information and collaboration, markets, efficiency, investment flows and technology advances.
This will be followed by a session on energy policy, fiscal regime trends and the role of regulators held by oil companies, their business partner firms and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH). Later, the event's knowledge partner HIS will give a presentation on future of oil and gas scenario in the next five years. This session on global energy scenario will involve discussion on management of the energy economy. The summit will come to an end with a valedictory address by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the evening.
