The Tamil Nadu Government has rejected the central government's offer to order a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the twin blasts in the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at the Chennai Central station, and instead sought the help of National Security Guard (NSG) experts.
As a result, the Union Home Ministry has ordered a team of NIA detectives not to leave for Chennai.
Director-General of Police (in charge of Elections), Tamil Nadu, Anoop Jaiswal said there was no Centre-State confrontation on the issue.
The CB-CID in Tamil Nadu has expressed confidence about achieving a breakthrough in the investigations soon.
Jaiswal said the NSG experts would assist Tamil Nadu Police in the investigations related to Thursday morning's twin blasts in the S4 and S5 coaches of the train.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has warned that the uncoordinated actions of state governments is creating gaps in the centre's fight against terrorism.
He said that had state governments not blocked the UPA Government's move to set up a National Counter-Terrorism Centre, key "loopholes in intelligence" could have been plugged by now.
