Bihar bypoll results 2018: Police uses force in Jehanabad

There were reports of police resorting to mild use of force outside the counting centre in Jehanabad as young RJD supporters indulged in boisterous jubilations over the news of their candidate Suday Yadav establishing an unassailable lead over former MLA and JD(U) nominee Abhiram Sharma.

 

In Bhabhua, BJP candidate Rinki Rani Pandey seemed comfortably placed with a lead of close to 10,000 votes over her Congress rival Shambhu Singh Patel.

Gorakhpur bypoll results 2018: SP's Praveen Kumar Nishad was leading by 28,737 votes with a total of 293,153 votes. BJP's Upendra Dutt Shukla was second with 264,416 votes after the 19th round of counting.

Bihar bypoll results 2018: RJD leading on 2 seats, BJP in one

The RJD established leads in Araria Lok Sabha seat and Jehanabad Assembly constituency while the BJP was leading in Bhabhua Assembly seat in bypolls in Bihar.

 

According to latest data, RJD's Sarfaraz Alam, who had in the earlier rounds trailed behind BJP's Pradip Kumar Singh, was now leading by about 14,500 votes after ninth rounds of counting of votes.
 

According to election office sources, a total of 28 rounds of counting will take place for results of Araria Lok Sabha seat bypoll necessitated due to demise of RJD MP Mohammad Taslimuddin.

 

Alam, who crossed over from JD(U) to Lalu Prasad's party RJD to contest the bypoll, is son of Taslimuddin.
 

RJD was also leading by more than 15,000 votes in Jehanabad assembly seat, where the BJP's ally JD(U), headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has fielded its candidate.

Deputy UP CM KP Maurya said that the arty didn't expect that the BSP's vote would be transferred to the SP in such a manner. Maurya said that the BJP would analyse after seeing the final results and prepare for a situation in future when the BSP, SP, and Congress can come together. Also, Maurya added that the BJP would make its strategy for winning the 2019 elections.

Phulpur bypoll results 2018: Samajwadi Party leads by 29,474 votes 

 

In Phulpur, Samajwadi Party's Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel was leading by 29,474 votes with a total of 218,963 votes. BJP's Kaushlendra Singh Patel was second with 189,489 votes after the 20th round of counting.

Uttar Pradesh byelection results 2018: 'Partial unity' enough to defeat BJP

Even "a partial unity" among Opposition parties is enough to defeat the BJP, former central minister Sharad Yadav said on Wednesday. "The government will go even if there is a partial unity among the Opposition parties," Yadav told the India Today news channel. 

 

He was commenting on the Lok Sabha by-election results from Uttar Pradesh, where the Samajwadi Party has taken an unassailable lead in both the Gorakhpur and Phulpur constituencies, as well as in Bihar where a Lok Sabha and two Assembly seats voted.

Sharing the dais with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Shukla, in his speech, said that this election symbolises a battle of honour for not just Gorakhpur but also Yogi Adityanath, whom he called the pride of the entire Hindu community.

Uttar Pradesh bypoll results 2018: How Opposition banked on BJP's failures

Opposition is counting on the "failures of the Uttar Pradesh government" to wrest them from it. However, the Congress claimed that an atmosphere of fear is prevailing in UP, and it will highlight failures of the Yogi Adityanath government before the people.
 

Accusing the BJP of "not fulfilling" its poll promises, the Samajwadi Party said that voters will punish the BJP.
 

"We are confident that people of UP will teach the BJP a lesson for making false promises during the last election and not fulfilling them," SP spokesperson Sunil Singh Sajan said.
 

Sajan also claimed that public mood was not favourable for the BJP-led state government because of the poor law and order situation.
