Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah on Tuesday said the state would provide logistics support for peaceful operations of the industry in the wake of Telangana agitations.
“The state has the potential to attract more industries and such agitations would not come in the way of development. Hyderabad, or for that matter Andhra Pradesh, is a safe place for investments,” he said.
Rosaiah was addressing the national executive committee meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) here.
The Justice Srikrishna Committee, which is studying the situation, was expected to submit its report by the year end, he said.
Ficci president Rajan Bharti Mittal sought an assurance from the government on the kind of industrial environment that would be provided for the development of trade and commerce.
Asian Paints
Asian Paints, which has a manufacturing unit at Patancheru near here, is keen on setting up another plant.
Its vice-chairman and managing director Ashwini Dhani said: “It would be a mega project and the biggest for Asian Paints. If not around Hyderabad, we are keen on setting up it in the north-eastern part of the state.” The company, however, is yet to make an application to the state government, he said.
The Sudhir Jalan Group was exploring prospects of setting up a mega food processing unit in Chittoor district.
Mittal, also vice-chairman and managing director of Bharti Enterprises, said foreign direct investment should be allowed in the multi-brand retail outlets as this would see greater leverage on technology and best practices.
