A day after A Raja resigned as Telecom Minister, AIADMK today sought his arrest and filing of a corruption case against him besides demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe in the 2G spectrum scam.

Describing it as the "biggest scam in the history of mankind", AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa said in a statement in Chennai, "This (resignation) does not signal the end of the mother of all scams.

"This overdue resignation is not a case of scaling the moral high ground. Raja had been mocking at all constitutional institutions including the office of the Prime Minister, Central Vigilance Commissioner, Delhi High Court, the CAG and even the Supreme Court," she alleged.

Demanding that he be charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and arrested, she said, "It (resignation) is only the beginning. The Government of India has lost an unprecedented Rs 1.76 crore. It should be investigated threadbare as the people have a right to know."

AIADMK leader V Maitreyan said, "Just resignation will not do. Further action should be taken on the 2G spectrum scam. Raja should be arrested and cases should be filed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act."

He told reporters outside Parliament House, "When you can arrest Ramalinga Raju in the Satyam case, why not Raja (be arrested) in this case. This is a huge scam involving thousands of crores."

He further said that "the stalemate will continue till the JPC is announced. We want JPC."
