Bid invitations for 4,000 Mw Orissa plant by Apr 30

The Government is likely to invite preliminary bids for the 4,000-MW ultra mega power project (UMPP) at Bedabahal in Orissa by April 30.

The RSQ (request for qualification) for the Bedadahal UMPP may be issued by April 30, a source close to the development said.

This 4,000 Mw UMPP would be the sixth such project. The government has already awarded four UMPPs, of which three--Sasan in Madhya Pradesh, Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Tilaiya in Jharkhand--have been bagged by Reliance Power.

Tata Power is executing the Mundra UMPP project in Gujarat. The first 800 MW unit of which is expected to be commissioned during the current Five-Year Plan period 2007-12.

The Government has recently invited qualifying bids for a 4,000 MW project in Chhattisgarh.

PFC consulting is the nodal agency for these power projects, which are to be funded on a debt equity ratio of 70:30.
