Party leaders V K Malhotra and Ravi Shankar Prasad declared that "many Independents, smaller parties and even some disgruntled elements in the Congress were in touch with the party in order to defeat the government on July 22".
Malhotra also demanded a "high powered inquiry" against the alleged exercise of money and muscle power by the government to secure its numbers. "All BJP MPs have also been issued a whip to be present in Delhi from July 20 onwards," said Malhotra.
