BJP leader downplays reports of dissensions

A senior Karnataka BJP leader today sought to downplay reports of dissensions in the state unit, saying the situation does not warrant intervention of party high command.

V Dhananjaya Kumar, a former union minister and spokesman of the party till his appointment as Karnataka’s representative in Delhi, said: “there is no explosive situation that calls for high command intervention”.

“There is no need for senior leader Arun Jaitley to visit the city and he is not coming now,” he told reporters here, disputing claims of some “disgruntled” partymen that Jaitley will be arriving here to hold parleys.

He said state unit President D V Sadananda Gowda had issued a stern warning to leaders and ministers against airing their views in public and asked partymen to use party fora to express their grievances.

Gowda’s directive came in the wake of some “disgruntled” MLAs and ministers holding strategy sessions over their future plans last week, notwithstanding Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa’s assertion that there were no dissensions in the state.
