Breaking from the traditional yellow colour of taxis running in metropolitan cities across the world, West Bengal government is planning to paint cabs here in white and blue. "We are planning to paint the cabs in white and blue which are now yellow," Transport Minister Madan Mitra told reporters here on Sunday.
A meeting has been called on February 18 where taxi owners and unions would be invited.
Mitra said the government would ask them to adhere to several guidelines like non-refusal of passengers, non-tampering of meters and installation of printers along with the meters among others.
The minister ruled out any immediate hike in fares of taxis.
