The civic body of the Chhattisgarh government in Raipur has started the process of cancelling the houses allotted the beneficiaries who have failed to pay the installment.
The Raipur Development Authority (RDA), the civic body of the state government, had identified 150 units that were constructed in different parts of the state capital under separate housing scheme. The authority has to recover more than Rs 2.5 crore from the beneficiaries.
“The RDA recovery cell had sent notices to the persons due to pay the installment, but they did not respond,” the officials said. Even they did not respond to the messages sent through the mobiles, they added.
After failing to recover the dues, the RDA authority has started cracking down on the “defaulters” and had initiated stern action. Initially, the houses have been sealed and later, the allotment will be cancelled, the officials added.
The houses are located in the prime locations of Heerapur, Boriya, and Raipura. The houses were allotted to the beneficiaries at a subsidized rate as it were constructed by the state-run authority. The officials said the 150 beneficiaries had failed to deposit any amount after signing the agreement with the initial payment.
Once the RDA took over the possession of the units, it would be re-sold through auction. The officials hinted that they were taking action against those having huge recovery instead of starting action from the “defaulters” belonging to the economically weaker section of the society.
