Merely into second day of the four-day 17th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC), child scientists participating in the event have been focusing on innovations in non-conventional energy, apart from conservation of energy, recycling waste and preserving earth.
According to Ravi Saxena, principal secretary, department of science and technology, government of Gujarat, "Around 220 presentations were made by child scientists on day two of the congress. The focus among these young minds has been non-conventional energy in their innovations. The other areas covered by them included conservation of energy, recycling waste and preserving earth." On Sunday, the opening day, around 12,000 students from various schools of the state took part in the various activities, carried out at the event and the rush on Monday was so high that total turnout on the second day is likely to be much more on the first day.
"Some of the interesting subjects on which presentations were made by the child scientists so far include natural insect repellent, eco-friendly double-heated oven, study on Anthill, 'Can a pollutant become a beneficial thing?', preservation and storage of vegetables by solar energy, hidden secrets of tobacco, hydro-electric bike and study of the problems & remedies of salon waste: the hair," added Saxena.
