The deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, moving westwards, has intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘Laila'.
According to the meteorological office, rain or thunder showers are likely at many places with isolated heavy to very heavy rain over coastal Andhra Pradesh from Wednesday.
Gales, reaching speeds up to 65 - 75 kmph, are likely to commence along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh. Sea conditions would be high.
The officials have advised fishermen not to venture into the sea during this period.
Chief minister K Rosaiah has asked top officials to monitor the situation and ensure that there is no loss of life and property. He directed the officials to keep a watch on bridges and culverts.
Hyderabad, under the influence of the depression, received rains associated with thunderstorms in parts of the city, according to a release.
