Coming to the defence of Anna Hazare and yoga guru Ramdev, the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) today advised the duo not to reply to the allegations of their nexus with the the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The BJP said it saw allegations against Hazare and Ramdev as a trap of the Congress and a ploy to divert attention from corruption.
In defence of the yoga teacher and the social activist, the BJP leadership said it believed the people were not asking any questions to Ramdev and Hazare. Only the Congress party members were deliberately raising these questions to defame them.
“We would advise Ramdev and Anna Hazare not to give any clarification because it is a trap of Congress party. The people of this country have faith in them and they are not asking any questions to them. There is no point in giving clarifications,” said BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
After allegations by the Congress, social activist Anna Hazare wrote a three-page letter to Congress president and chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance, Sonia Gandhi, on Sunday to make public any evidence to prove him a member of RSS or BJP.
Yoga teacher-turned-social activist Baba Ramdev has already released some details of his assets while he was on hunger strike in Haridwar.
Meanwhile, the BJP leadership also demanded Prime Manmohan Singh come out and clarify his stand on whether the prime minister should come under the Lok Pal Bill or not. BJP leaders alleged Congress members were speaking in different voices so it had become important for the prime minister to clarify his thoughts on the issue.
Rudy also alleged Congress party members were making these allegations against Ramdev and Hazare to deflect attention from the ongoing debate against corruption and the issue of bringing back black money stashed in foreign bank accounts abroad.
“The members of Congress Party are neck deep in corruption. They have no moral right to question people like Ramdev and Anna Hazare. If the union government wants to find out about these two leaders then they are capable of doing that. Congress Party doesn’t have the face to ask questions to Ramdev and Anna Hazare,” Rudy defended.
