Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad has described as a right step the dropping of D P Yadav from the newly-formed United Front ministry led by I K Gujral.
I as the president of the Dal has exercised my power on the basis of past performance of our Union ministers (from Bihar), Prasad told reporters here on Wednesday night. He said Yadav, former Union minister for food and civil supplies, should at least realise his fault.
Who has made Yadav a member of the state legislative council earlier? Prasad asked. When asked to recall the sacrifice made by the former Union minister by resigning the Phulpras Assembly seat to pave way for former Chief Minister, late Karpoori Thakur, to enter the state Assembly, Prasad said Karpoori ji had a mass base and there were so many others to sacrifice their seats for him (Karpoori ji). He was not a beggar.
Even if I too desire so, others will feel obliged to resign a seat, he said.
In reply to a question, Prasad said the coalition era would continue for long.
