Gujarat's labour reforms: A snapshot
- Retrenched workers in SEZ units get wages equivalent to 60 days of work a year, against 45 days earlier
- Workers had to raise complaints within a year of retrenchment, against three years at present
- A nominated govt official can apply for compensation on behalf of a worker in case of fatal injury or partial disability at the workplace after 90 days from the date of accident
- A compulsory certification-cum-consolidated annual return scheme for factories does away with the burden of submitting a large number of annual returns
- Number of registers to be maintained under labour laws reduced from 50 to 5 for ease of business
