The Bangalore Forum for Information Technology (BFIT), a forum of Bangalore based IT companies, has called off its proposed boycott of the forthcoming Bangalore IT.COM 2004.

BFIT had stated earlier this month that it would boycott this premier IT event, meant to showcase the state as an investment destination, to protest against inadequate infrastructure.

The decision to participate comes after the association members' recent meeting with Karnataka government officials during which BFIT was updated on the state's plans to address city infrastructure issues.

A spokesperson for BFIT said, "Following our meeting with government officials we are convinced that the Karnataka government is earnest about addressing short term and long term infrastructure issues that are plaguing all sections of citizens in the city, including the IT Industry."

He added that the inadequacy of existing infrastructure was seriously hampering service delivery capabilities of member companies and was greatly impacting employee productivity.

BFIT's member companies include HP, Philips, Motorola, Novell, Robert Bosch, SAP, Sasken, Siemens Public Communications, Sun Microsystems, Synopsys, Texas Instruments, Talisma and vMoksha. This forum tries to address common issues impacting the IT Industry in Bangalore.
