Nasscom president Kiran Karnik emphasised the need for use of IT in non-industry sectors like agriculture, education and citizen-services through e-governance projects.

Speaking at the two-day seminar on 'IT in Industry verticals' organised by XLRI Jamshedpur, Karnik, said Nasscom had been pursuing ways to accelerate IT use in industry as it has great potential.

Of special interest is IT use in the non-industry sector. R S Sharma, IT secretary and commissioner, government of Jharkhand, said around 50,000 new jobs was expected to be created in Jharkhand's IT and ITES sector in two years.
