JNPT to instal SMS-based real time container tracking solution

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust has appointed mobile solutions company, Coruscant Tec, to develop and support an SMS-based real time container tracking solution that would enable customers to track their consignments through mobile phones.

"The new system, that integrates with the JNPT customer database, would allow the customers to know the status of their consignments on a real time basis through SMS," a Coruscant release said.

"With this SMS-based service, customers would be able to track their shipments/containers any time using the convenience of their mobile phones," a JNPT spokesperson said.

The information, which can be availed with a unique code number, would be similar to the one offered on the web-based track, it added.

The system developed by Coruscant Tec has taken into account the upgradation for three years wherein the company would provide the support and expansion of the solution thereafter, it added.
