The joint parliamentary committee on stock scam will be meeting on August 20 to discuss its expanded mandate, including a tentative decision on whether to look at the UTI issue as a separate scam.
Sources said the committee which was to meet on July 25 had earlier decided to meet after a week of recess after the current parliamentary session. But since the committee has not been able to meet even for its in-house session then, it has been decided to hold the inhouse session during Parliament session, and if necessary to obtain directions from the speaker. The decision to hold concurrent sittings of the JPC with the Monsoon Session was cancelled in July itself, as both Houses got deeply involved in the thick of the Unit Trust of India controversy with even the Prime Minister
